Obstacle Course
(Also known as Poultry Zumba)
Did you know you could train a chicken to hop, duck, and run? Well, that is exactly what you get to see on the Poultry Obstacle course. It's all about how much time you've spent with your bird, whether they know where to go when you tap them to change direction, whether they're calm, and, of course, whether you're both coordinated. This is a riot to practice and participate in. From the kids to the audience, and I suspect even to the chicken, it's well worth the effort!
Each contestant will bring their birds to the start line and begin once the judge says go. The contestant will lead their bird through the course with a show stick, a treat, or both, while being timed. If the bird flies forward or off the table, it must be returned to where it left off, then continue from there. Awards are given for the fastest times.
Check your packet to see when you can practice on the course and when the event starts!
If you have not registered to participate in showmanship or exhibition, you will need to register when you arrive to receive your Exhibitor's number. This number is needed to participate in the poster, photo, knowledge quiz, poultry judging, or obstacle course events. Each child will need their own Exhibitor's number.
