The Lowell Sherman Award was created to honor the passing of Mr. Lowell Sherman for his extensive breeding experience with breeds like the White Plymouth Rocks and contribution to the poultry world. This award is intended to recognize a young man or lady for there accumulative experience in the areas of poultry care, presentation, and avian knowledge. This is decided through competitive participation in every event offered during the Stanislaus County Youth Poultry Show (with exception of the Obstacle Course) and accumulating the highest score of all participants. In an effort to encourage you year after year, this award can only be won one time by an individual, so every year you will have a new set of peers to compete against & an even better chance of winning!
There is no official pre-registration needed to compete for the Lowell Sherman Award. Simply submit a registration for your exhibition birds & showmanship, come prepared to display your photo & poster, and actively participate in the Poultry Judging & Knowledge Quiz when you have time through out the day of the show. The Obstacle Course is just a fun activity for everyone to be a part of and has no accumulative points that go towards this award.
All awards earned from competitions will be posted and it is your responsibility to write down the accumulative scores on your Lowell Sherman Award Tally Sheet placed in your registration packet. After all events have closed and winners have been posted, you will submit your tally sheet at the registration desk to be reviewed and judged against any other contestants.
Our 2014 Lowell Sherman Award winner will be announced during Award Ceremonies that begin at 3:00pm on the day of our show.
So- You think you can be this year's all-around Avaian master?
Then let us strategize!
